Project Overview Requested from the Yarra City Council, JJR has conducted a structural analysis and dynamic assessment of the Gipps Street Footbridge (Collins Bridge) and provision of report summarising the analysis and recommendations to allow increased use.

The bridge is a Whipple Truss Bridge mainly constructed of steel members. JJ Ryan has conducted an initial investigation on the bridge structure configuration and it is understood the bridge structure consists of three major sections including:

  • Main Bridge Span;
  • East Side Elevated Walkway; and
  • West Side Ramp.
JJR Involvement JJR has conducted an initial investigation on the bridge structure configuration its materials to offer complete report of the services that will need refurbishment and future care.

As part of the composition in the works were conducted:

  • Performing structural analysis and assessment of the bridge including dynamic behavior; and
  • Preparing a report including analysis and assessment results as well as any necessary stiffening or strengthening requirements.
